Hey Sippers,
During Saturday's soccer match between North Macedonia and Scotland, a dog ran onto the field in the first half. A North Macedonia player tried to guide it away, but the dog dodged him and eventually wandered off on its own before being retrieved. On the BBC, commentator Liam McLeod asked, "Who takes their dog to the football?" His co-commentator sided with the dog, saying, "Lovely placid dog as well, just out for a casual stroll." Scotland won 2-0.
Raise the roof. In the ninth inning of Saturday's playoff opener in Milwaukee, Ty France of the Padres hit what seemed like a go-ahead two-run homer. Instead, the ball struck a roof cable, which counts as in play according to the ballpark's rules, and fell almost straight down into Jackson Chourio's glove for an out. The Brewers won 3-2, then won again Sunday with Chourio's two-out walk-off single, and now lead the series 2-0.
Show-Me state. No. 25 Missouri beat No. 8 Florida 45-17 on Saturday, marking its biggest win ever over a top-10 team. Running back Jamal Roberts led the way with 211 rushing yards and three touchdowns.
Three's company. Four weeks into the NFL season, only the Chiefs, 49ers, and Vikings remain unbeaten. Minnesota reached 4-0 on Sunday by winning 15-10, relying on five field goals from Will Reichard without scoring a touchdown.
The Yankees managed just one hit in a playoff game, their lowest ever, and the player who got it was thrown out trying for third base.
No-no, almost. Tampa Bay Rays starter Drew Rasmussen kept the Yankees hitless for 7⅔ innings on Saturday, and Tampa Bay took Game 1 of the series 1-0 with a solo home run in the third inning off Gerrit Cole.
Wrong turn. The hit, when it finally came, it was a two-out double by catcher Austin Wells in the eighth inning. He tried to turn it into a triple but was tagged out. One hit is the fewest the Yankees have ever had in 447 postseason games.
Zero sum. The other AL opener was a shutout too. The Chicago White Sox defeated the Cleveland Guardians 3-0, powered by Munetaka Murakami's 440-foot home run and five pitchers who combined for 12 strikeouts. It was the team's first postseason shutout since the 2005 World Series.
Heart rate. Rasmussen said his heartbeat was "about a thousand beats per minute," so he let his catcher call the game.

Last call. On Friday, the pick was Chiefs at Raiders. At halftime, Las Vegas coach Klint Kubiak told the broadcast, "We're winning," and said, "We're going to win the game." But Kenneth Walker III scored two touchdowns in the fourth quarter just 15 seconds apart. An interception with 10 seconds left finished it, and Kansas City won 30-27 to improve to 4-0.
Twenty years later, Monday night's Falcons at Saints game marks two decades since New Orleans played its first game back in the Superdome after Katrina. That game was also against Atlanta on a Monday night. Both teams are 1-2.
