Hey Sippers,

On Saturday, ESPN's College GameDay visited BYU, where biology student Carter Smith showed up in a Spider-Man suit to attempt a field goal for $3 million in pledges. His first kick missed to the right, but host Pat McAfee gave him another shot. This time, Smith nailed the 33-yarder, and some of the money is said to be going to charity. When asked what he would buy first, the future dentist replied, "401K!" Later that night, BYU defeated No. 2 Notre Dame.

To sum it up, Jacksonville's Cam Little made a 60-yard field goal at Wembley Stadium in London to tie the game against Houston with 1:55 left. But Houston's Ka'imi Fairbairn sealed the win, 34-31, with a 49-yard field goal as time ran out.

Drew Rasmussen of the Rays changed things up on Sunday, throwing 27 changeups—more than double his total from Game 1—and limited the Cleveland Guardians to just one run over seven innings in a 3-1 victory. Tampa Bay now leads the ALCS 3-2, and Cleveland has never come back to win an ALCS after trailing 3-2. Game 6 is tonight in St. Petersburg.

Carter Verhaeghe scored three straight goals in Florida's 8-3 win over Seattle on Saturday, earning a natural hat trick. The Panthers are the first NHL team to record a natural hat trick in three consecutive games, with Brady Tkachuk getting the previous two.

On Saturday, five of the top seven college football teams lost, something that hasn't happened in 90 years of regular-season polls. The No. 1 team even lost after leading an unranked opponent 14-0.

Musical chairs. The AP has ranked college football teams since 1936, but before Saturday, five of the top seven had never all lost on the same regular-season day.

Before this weekend, unranked teams that were down by at least 14 points to the AP's No. 1 team had lost 195 times in a row, according to ESPN. Auburn was behind No. 1 Georgia 14-0 in Athens, but then scored 24 straight points and won 27-24 with a last-second field goal.

Georgia was not the only top team to lose:

  • Notre Dame lost 28-24 at BYU, ending a 16-game winning streak where every victory had been by double digits.

  • Texas lost to unranked Florida just a week after losing to unranked Oklahoma, even though they were ranked No. 1. The last time a No. 1 team lost to two unranked opponents in a row was Michigan State in 1961.

  • Indiana lost to Ohio State, and Alabama lost to Tennessee.

In Sunday's new AP poll, Miami moved up to No. 1 for the first time since 2002, and BYU reached No. 2, its highest spot since winning the national title in 1984. The No. 1 team has now lost two weeks in a row, which hasn't happened since 1990. The first rankings for the 12-team playoff will be released on November 3, so there are still two more Saturdays for more upsets.

Tennessee won against Alabama 26-10 on Saturday, with DeSean Bishop rushing for 159 yards and scoring two touchdowns.

San Francisco is still undefeated and will try to keep its 5-0 record tonight against Washington (1-3-1). Washington’s quarterback, Jayden Daniels, is expected to play after fully practicing on his injured left elbow.
